Practical Research

Plastic Paper Book shows why we need to celebrate the design we miss every day

'Sho Shibuya, plastic bags have an altogether different significance as well: Many of them, as he’s pointed out, are really rather beautiful brandishers of cute graphics, chipper slogans, and great typography. In a project that’s part aesthetic celebration, part love letter, and part environmentally motivated farewell, he’s created a book showcasing his favorites.'

- publication of plastic waste, think there is some irony surrounding the project. Creating something mass produced to showcase plastic bags. I like the project but the reasoning for making the publications seems a bit odd to me.

However, the extension of this project is really cool:

This practical application is really interesting, it takes one of the designs from an existing plastic shopping bag and reimagines it in a way that provides a more sustainable solution.

- Thinking about not wanting to produce anything in my project will be difficult, is this still necessary?
- My essay has moved a lot to the psychological side of the green movement, with the implications of ramming eco info down people's throats as not the best thing to do I've steared away from consumerism, but should this still be something I should consider within the project?

Ideas for the Project:

- redesigning Adapt instagram in a more appealing/appropriate way

- design a piece of psychological relief material for those struggling to grasp the weight of climate change.
- design a campaign that incorporates the psychological techniques discovered within my essay to change people's behaviour?
