Practical Developments

  • Wanted to try and find a way of presenting alternatives in a way to encourage people to buy more sustainable products/make more sustainable choices. 
  • Having difficulty finding the carbon footprint of different products (especially with food), it's all very general, nothing is specific to particular products. 
  • Found Quorn has a calculator for their alternative products and the different impacts choosing Quorn has. 
So you would be on your online shopping page and click add to basket:


Then when you did so this pop up would appear:


The alternative would be a similar product to the one the audience initially wanted, but would be better for the environment, whether that be due to carbon emissions of water uptake etc. 
The audience would then be able to add this to replace the item they were going to originally choose. 

Need to think about the aesthetic of the pop ups.
Is it going to be a consistent aesthetic across all platforms? 
> Would people have to install the software to make this happen. 
 - Thinking about Ecosia, a one time action for constantly sustainable options.
> Would it make more sense for the pop ups to match the aesthetic of the platform? 
 - If this is the case I wouldn't be able to adopt design principles relating to persuasion. 


Changed the design here to match Aldi's brand. 
- Still not sure whether having a consistent design across all platforms would be better or not.
