STUDY TASK 1 - What is Graphic Design?

1. According to Google graphic design is 'the art or skill of combining text and pictures in advertisements, magazines, or books'.

3. The Elements of Graphic Design:

• Communication - presenting an idea, thought, product, theory to an audience. The ability to be clear, with message using design.
• Commercial - using communication to persuade people to buy a product, idea, experience, lifestyle etc. 
• Reproducible and distributional - magazines, newspapers, publishing, etc.
• Juxtaposition or integration of  word and/or image - being able to understand the ways they work together and use rules to improve work.

Elements in Context:Part of graphic design is being able to apply social, political, cultural norms in work. Whether that be to promote or contest values typical of the norm.

Graphic design can be used to provide information to an audience, large scale or small scale through the combination of letters and image. 

My Opinion: Graphic design is the use of letters and words to make a product to a target audience. It can be 3D or 2D, use both words and letters, or one or the other.
