Question:
How can graphic design break down social barriers/norms when it comes to sustainability?
3 Initial Ideas:
1. Campaign encouraging people to start employing sustainable habits into everyday life using a psychological basis.
2. Designing an alternative way for brands to produce products that appeal to a wider audience, not the narrow
3. Finding alternatives for people to do that support sustainable charities and causes.
To Do Next:
Look into the art of persuasion and how this is related to graphic design.
Think about how this could be reflected as a campaign or piece of design.
What is Persuasive design?
Persuasive design is an area of design practice that focuses on influencing human behaviour through a product’s or service’s characteristics. Based on psychological and social theories, persuasive design is often used in e-commerce, organisational management, and public health. However, designers also tend to use it in any field requiring a target group’s long-term engagement by encouraging continued custom.
Feedback:
- Any thoughts about what could be interesting to look at (campaigns, etc).
- Any research/thoughts/opinions about sustainability you think would be good for me to know?
