ADAPT
Style isn't going to appeal to a wide range of people, could turn some people off as they might think it's been badly designed.
No consistency to the posts, all rather gaudy but within that they jump around a lot in terms of colour palette, illustrations, photography, type choice etc.
Quite common for a lot of information to be placed within one post, people will lose interest if there is so much info. Could do with being placed in a way that is more manageable.
Also the tone is often very negative, it creates a lot of stress and tension, this isn't the approach I want to take with the practical.
Simple spelling mistakes on a post, automatically reduces the legitimacy for some people, and again design decisions that could turn a lot of people away.
The bright colours are eye catching, but it's the kitch aesthetic that isn't going to appeal to everyone.
This design is more likely to appeal to more people, it isn't as in your face but is still clearly designed.
Adapt Nicer Tuesdays Talk https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZPSsg7EzCvQ
- Saw a lot of headlines like this:
That blames individuals and made it seem like it was out fault rather than big companies and organisations.
- Used Instagram as a way to promote action that can be taken quickly and easily and on the spot.
- Want to incorporate humour into their work.
- Produce live events as well as digital stuff online, climate change speed dating, planet party etc.
- Want to start conversations, making tools that make having these conversations easier.
- Very focused on developing conversations around climate change, wanting people to feel as though they can talk about these issues.
- Collaborated with Ecosia to develop 5000 tree challenge.
- Are very aware of the ways people might react to hearing specific bits of information.
- A lot of play on words incorporates 'solar so good', 'feeling hot hot hot' etc. Incorporating humour into work to make it more approachable.
- Taking information that may be dull and boring and presenting it in a more entertaining way:
- How to go about their work:
> Really interesting to look into them in more detail, a lot of the stuff they talk about in the talk is represented on their Instagram however i found it just as intimidating as it is followed up by these scary facts and figures.
> Again the design is suited to the humorous element to their work but it will mean a lot of people may be turned off by the design, very kitch, people may not want to look or engage wit it.
> Target audience is rather youthful, due to aesthetic and main platform being instagram.
> How could I extract elements from their work and apply to won project? (think about this going forward).
Redesigning Adapt:
- By employing different design principles the account could be made more appealing to a wider audience, encouraging more to engage with it’s content.
- The fun nature of the original Adapt content has been retained, it suited the non invasive nature that is favoured by people when learning about intimidating news or facts.
- The thing is there are many Instagram accounts dedicate to sustainability, it is hard to reach a wider audience as lots of people don't have Instagram, especially an older demographic.

Reflections:
> Feel as though redesigning adapt wouldn't add anything new, the work already exists and they successful for what they're aiming to do.
- I need to design something new, there are many eco Instagram accounts out there so something I make should employ my research into something new.

> The friendly non typical style choice is good, feel like this should be carried forward into my outcome.
- Not being typical to an eco brand could prevent some of the stereotyping from happening?

TRANSPORT ADVERTS
- buses can be a way to advertise to the public both outside and inside the bus.
